UP-731/UP-732 2K Urethane Primer
- Perfect Prime
Perfect Prime is
designed as a two component urethane primer that fills well and sands easily. It
also gives excellent color holdout for all topcoats. UP-731/UP-732 is
mixed at 4:1 with UPC-73 activator. When used as a sealer
it is mixed at 4:1 plus 25% urethane reducer. These two component primers
may be used over old paint and body filler, as they are ideal for block
sanding. If using on new bare metal, a steel conditioner such as SPO-323
or self etching primer should be applied before painting.
Pot life is approximately two hours at 70°F, less for elevated
temperatures.
Sealer, add 25% of the appropriate urethane reducer.
Note: For new bare metal application, use a bare metal conditioner /
self etching Primer to
strengthen adhesion.
To tint: Add up to one
(1) ounce of activated ULTRA-GLO paint to each quart of PERFECT-PRIME 2K
urethane primer (or four [4] ounces per gallon).
SPECTRA SERIES Urethane Candy Color System
Put down either ULTRA-GLO acrylic urethane paint, or UCB01 Quicksilver as a
Base. SPECTRA Series candy colors may be applied over acrylic urethane
anytime after final coat has flashed, but before 24 hours, without sanding.
After 24 hours, base color must be scuff sanded prior to top coating.
APPLICATION:
When applying UCB01 Quicksilver Base, apply two (2) or three (3) medium
coats. An extra coat
may be fogged as necessary to set even metallic pattern. Allow 15 to 25
minutes for flash time
between coats. Once base has flashed, apply candy color in medium wet coats
as necessary to
achieve desired shade.
Application TIPS:
While infinite variations are possible with the SPECTRA Series, we offer
these few tips to demonstrate several basic methods to spark your
imagination and get you on the way toward creating your own unique,
one-of-a-kind finish. Mix and match multiple candy colors to create custom
shade variations. Blend one or more candy colors with UCB01 Quicksilver Base
to tint the metallic base. Apply multiple coats of urethane clear between
the base and candy to increase “float” effect. Apply custom art between the
base and candy color for a shadow effect. Shift from one base color to
another, then top with one uniform candy color for unique fade. Use
factory-pack ULTRA-GLO acrylic urethane paints for different base color
effects. Because the entire SPECTRA Series was designed on a common urethane
platform, all of its parts (base, candy and clear) are completely
interchangeable and use the same activator. Dry times may vary slightly
depending on shop temperatures and dried film thickness. SPECTRA Series
candy colors and UCB01 Quicksilver Base may be re-coated after final coat
has flashed but before 18 hours without sanding first. After 18 hours, these
products must be sanded prior to re-coating. Wait 24 hours at 70F) before
sanding to remove any Contaminants or imperfections in the finish.
Mixing: both the UCB01 and the candy colors mix 4:1 with 0175hp (half pint) or 0075 (quart size)
Pot life:
is approximately one hour at 75°F, less for elevated temperatures. Caution:
Mix only as much material as you will need to complete the immediate job.
Note: SPECTRA SERIES Candy colors will become increasingly darker with
each additional coat applied. By adjusting the number of coats, it is
possible to change the shade of your final finish to appear lighter or
darker than the color chip.
Kirker Ultra-Glo - Acrylic
Urethane Colors
Factory-packaged
acrylic urethane colors were carefully selected based on their
popularity from year to year. Since it is possible to stock these colors,
acrylic urethanes are always available, at minimal cost. Ultra-Glo acrylic
urethane enamel is a high gloss, durable paint designed for automotive and
fleet refinishing. Ultra-Glo provides a high degree of UV protection to help
keep vehicles looking glossy for years.
Mix ¾ gallon of Ultra-Glo acrylic urethane enamel to one quart of
UA-1600M or 1600S hardener (3:1). We recommend adding no more than
20% of urethane reducer (PC 80, PC 81, or PC 82). Kirker acrylic urethane
clear (EC300 or VisionClear) may be applied as a topcoat and/or added to the final coat
to increase gloss and durability.
Apply a medium wet coat, followed by two full wet coats, and make
sure surface is properly prepared and primed before application. The third
coat may be fogged as necessary to set metallic pattern evenly. Allow 15 -30
minutes flash time between coats depending on temperature.
Pot life for mixed material is two hours, maximum. Less for elevated
temperatures.
BASECOAT MIX DIRECTIONS
Basecoat Kits
were designed for simple, easy, no fuss painting. They must be clear coated
to shine. The basecoat system has some advantages such as metallics are
easier to get an even pattern. With Kirker’s system you have about 10
qts. of spray-able product which will cover just about anything on the
road.
MIX one gallon LDS Basecoat stabilizer to one gallon KS paint. Then once you have your two gallons of material. Mix each gallon 8 parts paint to 1 part hardener (K-1607) add reducer (PC-1, PC-2, or PC-3) only if needed to improve the flow.
Apply
a medium wet coat, followed by two full wet coats, and make sure surface is
properly prepared and primed before application. The third coat may be
fogged as necessary to set metallic pattern evenly. Allow 15 -30 minutes
flash time between coats depending on temperature.
Pot life is approximately one hour at 75°F, less time for elevated
temperatures.
EC100 PRO-FLO CLEAR Multi-Use Urethane Clear
Pro Flo EC100 Clear is a multi-use urethane clear that is easy to spray and dries fast. This product provides excellent durability and a deep gloss. Pro Flo is designed for overall repairs and can be used in spot/panel applications of most color systems. Mix ratio is 4:1. Mix one quart activator (0065, 0075, or 0085) to one gallon EC100. You may also use urethane reducer (PC80, 81 or 82)* to help with flow out of the gun. EC100 Clear may also be integrated into the final coat of Kirker’s ULTRA-GLO acrylic urethane or simply sprayed over most other Finishes.
Pot life: is approximately one hour at 75°F, less for elevated temperatures. Caution: Mix only as much material as you will need to complete the immediate job.
